AlenaSramkova (born in June 1929 in Prague) is known as the first lady of Czech architecture or as a pioneer of Czech minimalism. She received awards such as the Medal for Merit from the Czech President or State Award for her contribution in architecture, although some people find her architecture controversial, mostly for its extreme almost provocative simplicity. She has been active since the 1950s and so far her last building, symbolically the home of faculty of architecture of the Prague Technical University, was opened in September 2010. This monumental and in some ways challenging building is the subject of our short film.
