Join us for a virtual conversation with Niels Juul, executive producer of notable films such as “THE IRISHMAN,” “KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON,” and “FERRARI”! These films have collectively received over 20 Oscar® nominations from the Academy, winning and earning numerous additional awards and accolades from the Golden Globe Awards, BAFTA Awards, Critics’ Choice Awards, entertainment publications, audiences, and more. Niels will discuss the role of an executive producer in feature filmmaking, how to build relationships with executive producers who can propel projects forward, what executive producers look for when deciding whether or not to invest in developing a project, and how executive producers at Niels’ level stay informed about new and emerging writers and filmmakers. We will also delve into Niels’ overall career and his experiences across the industry.
About Niels Juul:
Niels, a US and Danish national fluent in six languages, is a globally renowned executive producer with expertise in financing and packaging features and a history of working with the top directors in the world film industry.
Before starting his career in film, Niels co-founded and ran the world-renowned fashion & lifestyle brand Von Dutch and was responsible for building it into a worldwide fashion brand. Turnover grew from less than $2 million per annum into a $400 million business over a five-year period. After excelling in the fashion world, in 2008, Niels was tapped as the CEO of Italian-US film company Cecchi Gori Pictures, with a mandate to restructure its operations and business. During a span of 5 years, Juul was instrumental in securing a lucrative multi-million-dollar global distribution deal for its film library and bringing the company to profitability for the first time in 20 years. He concurrently produced and secured the financing of Martin Scorsese’s “SILENCE”.
Over the past decade Niels has worked on numerous award-winning films including, “THE IRISHMAN”, “KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON”, and “FERRARI”. He currently runs No Fat Ego (based in Los Angeles and London), a multi-functioning production company with the aim to produce meaningful content made by exceptional writers, producers, and directors. His strengths lie in selection and development of material and IP, creative management of writers and directors, and the ability to package projects with outstanding talent.
