NFMLA Virtual Conversation | Film & TV Directing with Alberto Belli

Join NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) for a virtual conversation with film and television director Alberto Belli. Alberto is an alumni of NFMLA’s festivals and has directed films currently on Disney + and HBO Max, as well as TV episodes, including the Greg Daniels Amazon series UPLOAD, and various commercials.

We will discuss Alberto’s filmmaking journey and directing career across the industry, in particular his solo directing work and his recent film with Disney+, in addition to advice he has for emerging/aspiring directors.

About Alberto Belli:

Alberto Belli is a computer science engineer whose love for storytelling turned him into a director. He moved from Mexico to LA to obtain his MFA from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Alberto’s work includes an eclectic mix of commercials, TV episodes, and movies, which have been recognized at Oscar-qualifying film festivals, including SXSW, HollyShorts, and Cannes Lions. His latest movie “The Naughty Nine,” a Christmas heist adventure, premiered on Disney+ on Thanksgiving day.

His feature debut, “Gatlopp,” a fantasy/comedy about a supernatural drinking game, premiered at number 8 on HBO Max worldwide, receiving rave reviews. Alberto has also directed major international ad campaigns for brands like Visa, Hyundai, and Snickers. He broke into the TV world by directing episodes for Netflix’s acclaimed series “La Casa de las Flores.” Recently, he directed an episode for Greg Daniel’s Amazon hit series “Upload” and has a couple of shows in development at Sony and Amazon.
