Join NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) for a conversation with MJ Caballero, a production executive with over fifteen years of experience in the industry, including at Marvel StudiosBlumhouse Television, and ARRAY Filmworks. We will discuss her career in physical production both internationally and domestically, including what physical production entails (locations, tax credits, labor regulations, budgeting, safety, time, etc.), as well as the projects she has worked on across the industry, and advice she has for emerging filmmakers or anyone looking to learn more about a career in production.

About MJ Caballero:

MJ Caballero is a production executive from Spain and based in Los Angeles. She graduated college with a BA in Audiovisual communication after having produced, DP’ed and edited over 5 short-films. Her career began in Madrid, where she worked in the most successful national television series at the time: Sin Tetas No Hay Paraiso and Los Misterios the Laura, adapted years later by NBC as The Mysteries of Laura. She most recently worked as a Director of Physical Production at Marvel Studios.

Before Marvel, MJ worked at Blumhouse Television where she ran point on Welcome to the Blumhouse for Amazon and Sacred Lies II for Facebook Watch and at ARRAY Filmworks, where she oversaw live action, unscripted and animation series for Netflix, HBOMax, OWN and The CW.

In her over fifteen years of experience in the industry, she has worked on all kind of projects as a production manager and line producer and years later became a production executive. Her projects have been aired in networks across the world and have won festivals in all the continents.

MJ is an active member of the Television Academy and the Producers Guild of America.
