You’re invited to join NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) with presenting partners the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), Shanghai Cultural Development Foundation, Jing’an District Film and TV Industry Development Foundation and Xin Dai (Shanghai) Cultural Development Company Limited for InFocus: Shanghai Cinema. The Shanghai International Film Festival is a Supporting Partner of the program.

InFocus: Shanghai Cinema will feature a selection of thirteen short films by emerging Chinese filmmakers and will celebrate filmmaking in which Shanghai plays a prominent role. The stories presented will offer perspectives on love, family, aging, gender relations, friendship, wisdom and memory, and will feature Q&A sessions with the filmmakers.

First come, first served. While supplies last. Only limited number of seats available. Seating is not guaranteed. Arrive early. Theater is not responsible for overbooking. Screening will be monitored for unauthorized recording.

NFMLA’s Monthly Film Festivals are presented throughout the year with support from Presenting Venue Sponsor LBA Realty, Executive Circle Sponsors FilmLA and HBO Collabs, Producers Circle Sponsor Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH), Foundation Sponsors Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), LA County Department of Arts and Culture, LA City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), California Arts Council and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Community Foundation.

NFMLA showcases films by filmmakers of all backgrounds throughout the year in addition to its special InFocus programming which celebrates diversity, inclusion and region. All filmmakers are welcome and encouraged to submit their projects which will be considered for all upcoming NFMLA Festivals, regardless of the InFocus programming.
